Educators Endorse Attorney General Jim Hood

The Mississippi Association of Educators (MAE), representing 8,000 teachers and education support professionals, has announced its support of Jim Hood for attorney general.

“Jim Hood supports high standards for public schools and additional help for students and schools to help meet new, higher expectations,” said Beverly Brahan, president of MAE. “He supports teacher salary increases and full funding for the Mississippi Adequate Education Program every year, not just in election years.”

MAE’s recommendation process included a written questionnaire and an in-person interview conducted by MAE’s political action committee. The committee considered a broad spectrum of information, including the candidate’s work for children and public education, and public statements on education.

“As a longtime supporter of public education, I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Mississippi Association of Educators,” said Attorney General Jim Hood. “The most noble calling is that of an educator. As parents, we entrust the success of our children and the future of our state to these dedicated professionals. Our gratitude does to them.”

In addition to his solid support of education, Hood has put the protection of children against sexual predators and internet safety at the top of his list of priorities. His record in these areas is unmatched in Mississippi.
